Prominent Republicans were at the White House Thursday when President Obama signed the Jump-start Our Business Start-ups (JOBS) Act, which makes it easier for businesses to go public and removes regulatory barriers to investing in start-ups.
“I’ve always said that the true engine of job creation in this country is the private sector, not the government,” Obama said. “Our job is to help our companies grow and hire.”
The new law, opposed by some on the left, originated with Obama’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness, a group comprised mostly of CEOs.
